Tesla Cars Coming to South Africa?

Updated: Dec 18, 2018

The South African born Billionaire keeping his promise.

South Africa dose not have a large electric car market or large electric charging infrastructure, but could still change due to a new player in the game coming next year, possibly. Eskom will need to sort themselves out in time for this.

Elon Musk has recently stated on twitter that he would want to open a dealership in South Africa at the end of 2019 as 11 new Tesla stores are opening across the United States.

Riccardo Spagni responded to Tesla's announcement of the new stores asking when he would open the store here in South Africa. To which Elon responded.

"Probably end of next year" - Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 11, 2018

Musk left South Africa to North America 30+- years ago and co-founded eBay, Tesla, SpaceX and the Boring Company. If anyone had the money and if he wanted to could fix South Africa's technological difficulties, it would be him.

The vehicles will most likely be the Model 3 due to a tweet back in 2016

Adding several more countries to Model 3 order page tonight. Check for details, but will include India, Brazil, SA, SK, NZ, Sing & Ireland. - (@elonmusk) March 31, 2018

This was back in 2016 and had pre-orders available on its site. Drive for development is in South African electric and the car industry. Tesla would be sure welcomed in South Africa.
